California State Meet June 3-4th @ Buchanan High School
Congratulations to our track and field athletes that participated in the 94th annual California State Track and Field Championships at Buchanan High School in Clovis.
El Toro was well represented as our boys finished the highest place in school history as they tied for 3rd place overall. Our girls team finished in 34th place overall. 5 athletes earned medals and a trip to the podium for the most in our school’s history. The following are the results of our athlete's performances:

CIF Masters Meet May 27th @ Cerritos College
7 for 7, the “Magnificant 7.” El Toro was entered in seven events at the Masters Meet and each and every athlete qualified for the State Meet to be held on June 3-4th at Buchanan High School in Fresno. This is a huge accomplishment and our athletes are to be highly commended for their efforts. Hanna Edwards broke her previous school record in the 800 meters by 1.29 seconds. Dana Hills Dual Meet April 27th @ El Toro
Our boys and girls both lost narrowly to Dana Hills in the final dual meet of the season.
Our boys swept the shot put and discus led by Jake Fraser who ended up winning every dual meet in both the shot and discus. Our boys also swept every league shot put and discus competition. Adam Bragg won two events: 110 high hurdles (15.6) and pole vault (15’7”).
Orange County Championships April 16th @ Mission Viejo
Four El Toro athletes claimed County titles: Hanna Edwards, 800 meters (2:14.22), Kelly Peterson, frosh-soph 200 meters (25.09), Adam Bragg, pole vault (15’ 9”), and Jake Fraser, discus (182’ 9”). Kelly Peterson’s 200 meter time was a meet and school record. Other strong efforts included: Claire Currie, frosh-soph 300 hurdles (2nd), Taylor Hypolite, 200 meters (4th), Juan Gonzalez, frosh-soph 1600 meters (4th), Jacob Furnari, frosh-soph long jump (3rd), Matt Stockton, frosh-soph 300 hurdles (5th), Justin Schneider, long jump (4th),
Jake Fraser, shot put (2nd) and Brad Bolton, shot put (3rd).
Aliso Niguel Dual Meet April 14th @ Aliso Niguel HS
El Toro’s boys and girls varsity both claimed victories in the showdown. Jake Fraser (shot and discus), and Michael Masci (1600 and 3200m) each earned two victories for the boys as the boys won 13 of 16 events.
Arcadia Invitational April 8-9th @ Arcadia HS
El Toro athletes turned in outstanding performances in this prestigious meet. Two school records were set: Adam Bragg in the pole vault where he cleared 16’ 1” to finish third and breaking his former record of 15’ 9”, and our boys distance medley relay as they recorded a 10:15.63 to finish fourth overall and breaking the former school record of 10:17.73 (2002).
The team consisted of: Spencer Allen (3:09.3-1200m), Nick Resendes (52.1-400m), Ryan Germann (1:54.2-800m), and Juan Gonzalez (4:19.5-1600m). Other highlights included Sullivan Parker 4th in the shot put (57’ 4.50”), Jake Fraser 4th in the discus (182’ 2”) and Justin Schneider 4th in the long jump (22’ 2”).
Trabuco Hills Dual Meet April 6th @ Trabuco Hills HS
The annual ET/TH dual night meet produced many strong performances with ET’s varsity boys and girls both losing by close scores. Highlights included 1-2-3 sweeps of the shot put, discus, pole vault and 110 high hurdles. Spencer Allen ran a lifetime best 1:54.73 in the 800 meters.
Trabuco Hills Invitational April 2-3rd @ Trabuco Hills
El Toro athletes performed very well in this mega affair. Our Girls set three school record and two meet records in the process in which Kelly Peterson took down school records in the Frosh-Soph 100 and 200 meters where she ran 12.45 and 25.46 respectively. Her 200 meter time was also a meet record. The Frosh-Soph 4 x 400 relay team of Claire Currie, Alexa Kitchen, Breanna Johnson and Kelly Peterson broke the school record by five seconds when they ran 4:06.87. The time was also a meet record until the next heat broke their record by one second. On the boys side, strong performances were turned in by: Jake Fraser’s county leading 60’2.25” in the shot put (1st), Brad Bolton’s 59’8.75” (shot put, 2nd) and Sullivan Parker’s 56’54.5” (shot put, 5th). Sullivan also led the trio in the discus with a throw of 170’8” (3rd), Fraser’s 168’2” (5th) and Bolton’s 162’10” (8th). Justin Schneider won the long jump with a season best of 22’5.50”. Adam Bragg finished second in the pole vault clearing 14’9”.
Mission Viejo Dual Meet March 31st @ Mission Viejo
Our varsity girls won and our varsity boys tied strong MV teams at Mission Viejo. Our girls were led by another school record 4 x 100 relay (48.0 hand time), a sweep in the 1600m, 100 hurdles and 800 meters. Kelly Peterson had a big day winning both the 100 and 200 as well as on the record setting 4 x 100 team. Hanna Edwards led a sweep in the 1600 and 3200 meters. On the boys side, El Toro swept the 1600, 800, 3200 meters, the shot put and discus amassing 45 points in five events. The Chargers could only manage to score 23 points in the remaining eleven events to forge the tie. A fine effort was turned in by the 4 x 400 relay recording a yearly best of 3:27.8 being narrowly edged by Mission Viejo’s 3:27.4.
Azusa Pacific Meet of Champions March 26th @ Azusa Pacific University
Our boys and girls distance runners attended this annual distance runners classic. As usual, there were a full day of races geared to athletes competing against their own ability. Two school records resulted as senior Hanna Edwards ran a strong race in the Dream Mile to
finish fourth overall in a time of 4:58.62 (4:56.89 converted for 1600 meters). Both marks will stand as school records. Hanna improved on her previous best time of 5:13 by over sixteen seconds making her the seventh fastest in the state at 1600 meters. Sophomore Juan Gonzalez also broke the school record in the frosh soph 1600 meters recording a 4:22.98 time to break the record by nearly a half second by Ryan Germann’s 4:23.44 set in 2009. All in all, nineteen boys broke 5:00 for 1600 meters with sixteen athletes recording personal records. Nine girls broke 6:00 with fifteen recording personal records. Four boys ran the 3200 meters and all four recorded personal best times, with Kevin Durham placing fourth in the invitational 3200 meters running 9:15.94 and recording the seventh best time in the state.
Triton Invitational March 19th @ San Clemente
El Toro sent a limited crew to the Invitational and had many strong performances. Once again, our lady Chargers lowered their 4x100 relay record for the third time in the last two weeks, this time breaking 49 seconds for the first time, clocking 48.97 to finish a close to second to rival Mission Viejo’s 48.75. Kelly Peterson ran a personal best of 12.46 (100 meters) just off of the school record of 12.33. On the boys side, Geoff Kruki ran a personal best of 16.23 in the 110 high hurdles, Justin Schneider jumped 22’ 1.75” in the long jump to place second, and Adam Bragg cleared 15’0” (pole vault) to place second.
San Clemente Dual Meet March 16th @ San Clemente
Another non scoring meet with the Tritons on their track produced some fine results for the Chargers. Our girls lowered there one week old 4 x100 relay school record with the same quartet clocking 49.07. Other fine performances were: Kelly Peterson, 12.46 (100 meters), Hanna Edwards, 2:14.0 (800 meters), and Channing Jones with 5’1” (high jump) and 35’11” (triple Jump). The boys had strong performances from: Justin Schneider, 22’1” (long jump) and 22.90 (200 meters), Ryan Germann, 1:59.9 (800 meters), Spencer Allen, 4:26.1 (1600 meters), Michael Masci, 4:28.1 (1600 meters), Juan Gonzalez, 4:28.5 (1600 meters) and 10:04.1 (3200 meters), Adam Bragg, 14’6” (pole vault), Jake Fraser, 57’5” (shot put), and 177’8.5” (discus), Sullivan Parker, 52’6.5” (shot put) and 169’11” (discus), and Brad Bolton, 54’4” (shot put), and 154’ 5.5” (discus).
