2012 Track and Field Highligts!
South Coast League Finals May 4th @ Mission Viejo HS
The South Coast League is undoubtably the toughest league in Orange County. The results of the team competition is as follows:

Dana Hills Dual Meet April 25th @ Dana Hills
Our boys varsity defeated the Dolphins 71-65 while our girls lost 99-37 at Dana Hills under gray overcast skies and threatening rain. Our boys will enter the SCL meet with a 3-1 record and girls enter with a 2-2 record in the toughes track league in Orange County.
Our girls got solid performances and victories from Taylor Romine, 11:08 (3200m); Amberly Bark, 2:28 (800m); Nai Bean, shot put; and Kelly Peterson, 12.6 (100m). Kalie Demerjian, 5:18 had a big PR in the 1600m. One the boys side, victories were recorded in the 4x100 relay; Justin Schneider in the 100 meters (11.2) and long jump (22’ 5”); Kevin Durham in the 1600m (4:21.6) and 3200m (9:28.4); Andy Bardine 15.0 (110 high hurdles); Geoff Kruki, 40.1 (300 intermediate hurdles); Jake Tredwell, 42’6” (triple jump); Other outstanding marks were recorded by Juan Gonzalez, 4:21.8 (1600m) and 1:57.7 (800m); Trevor Oblouk, 51.0 (400m); and Greg Warner, 41.5 (300 intermediate hurdles).
Orange County Championships April 21st @ Mission Viejo
El Toro faired well in the County Championships with only limited entries. Sophomore Trevor Oblouk set a school record in the Frosh-Soph 400 meters with a time of 51.12 and a third place finish. Other strong performances included:

Trabuco Hills Dual Meet April 6th @ Trabuco Hills HS
The girls and boys varsity split victories against the Mustangs with the boys prevailing 75-62 and the girls coming up just short with a narrow 68.5-67.5 loss. Our girls won both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays; Naia Bean won the shot put; Hanna Meager won the discus; Makela Morris won the pole vault; Kelley Peterson, Michelle Schatz and Christiana Bastos swept both the 100 and 200 meters; and Samantha Donskey won the long jump. The boys won a hard fought battle by winning both relays. Justin Schneider had another big day winning three events, the 100 (11.00) and 200 (22.46) meters and the long jump. Juan Gonzalez won two events (1600m, 800m) and finished a close second in the 3200m. Other event winners were: Kevin Durham in the 3200m (9:27.1); Andy Bardine in the high hurdles (15.26); Alex Morrison in the pole vault (13’6”); Jake Tredwell in the triple jump (42’10”); and Alex Dao in the high jump (6’1”). Schneider’s 100 and 200m were personal bests, as were Bardine, Morrison,Tredwell and Dao in their respective events. The meet concluded in dramatic fashion in the boys 3200m when Durham and Gonzalez finished first and second to seal the victory. A victory in the 4x400relay.
Arcadia Invitational April 7-8th @ Arcadia HS
Our girls set a school record in the 4x1600m relay with a team of Amberly Bark (5:21.9), Megan Callender (5:21.1), Camila Turati (5:23.1) and Taylor Romine (5:12.0) running 21:18.90 to place 10th in the Invitational race and eclipse the four year old record by four seconds. Our boys ran the #2 all time school best 17:45.25 for the 4x1600m relay to place 13th in the Invitational race with a team of Kevin Durham (4:25.0), Nathan Kwan (4:32.6), Forest Parkinen (4:30.8) and Juan Gonzalez (4:16.6). Justin Schneider placed 10th in the Invitational long jump with a lead of 21’ 5.” Our boys Distance Medley team placed a strong 9th in the Invitational race recording the #2 all time school best of 10:16.96 narrowly missing
the school record. The team consisted of Juan Gonzalez, 3:04.1 (1200m), Greg Warner, 52.5 (400m), Trevor Oblouk, 2:02.4 (800m), and Kevin Durham, 4:17.7 (1600 m).
Aliso Niguel Dual Meet April 4th @ El Toro HS
Our girls and boys varsity both claimed convincing victories at home over the Wolverines. The girls won 93-43 and the boys prevailed 97-39. Impressive girl perform-ances included victories in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays (49.3 and 4:06.1); Megan Callender in the 800m (2:24.2); Mikala Morris in the pole vault (10’ 6”) and Megan Steidle in the 300
intermediate hurdles, 49.5. Other fine marks were: Taylor Romine, 5:11.9 (1600m); Kelley Peterson and Michelle Schatz, 26.6 and 26.8 in the 200m; Samantha Donskey and Claire Currie, 16’7 and 16’6” in the long jump.
The boys claimed victories in both relays, 43.3 and 3:35.0; Juan Gonzalez in the 1600m
(4:27.2); Andy Bardine in the 110 high hurdles (15.2); Justin Schneider in the 100m (11.1);
Geoff Kruki in the 300m intermediate hurdles (40.7); Bryce Pierce in the 3200m (9:54.2);
Alex Dao in the high jump (6’0”); Joel Ingrassia in the long jump (19’8”); and Jake Tredwell in the triple jump (42’1”). Gustavo Rosas won two events, the shot put (45’1”) and the discus (126’11”).
